So we did a little thing… some of you may have seen it.
The NOM!NAL Team set up a fashion presentation on the 17th February to showcase a preview of of "The Nominal School of Defiance". This was a sneak leak into our first official drop of 2024 due April 2024.
This is a collection drawing inspiration from cultural diversity and individual expression, Nominal London explores the fusion of traditional British and Eastern Asian school uniforms. Expect unconventional silhouettes, bold features, and a celebration of self- expression. Taking many inspirations such as The interesting grade of grey uniforms often seen in Schools in the UK & colorful neckties to repurposing how students around the world accessorized belts & bags with pins; each piece reflects the rebellious spirit of creativity. After school we’ve often seen and participated in a ‘remixing’ of our uniforms to suit our style & environment. For some of us this was a necessity so we carried this same energy in school. For others it was a form of rebellion.
Nominal London's Fashion presentation took place in the heart of Central London on the Strand and Covent Gardens on the 17th February. The choice of location in Central London further underscored the brand's commitment to bringing fashion to the people and as opposed to showing within an invite-only fashion show.
We started at the ME hotel and our 10 models presented pieces from our upcoming spring 2024 collection styled with some of Nominal London’s core pieces while walking through Covent Garden and the Strand. We stopped at three different locations and we presented our models in our Spring 2024 preview pieces on plinths made of white boxes. This was intended to showcase them for the artworks that they are. I’m true Nominal fashion… We had to add some flares, lights and music for dramatic effect.
The location itself was carefully selected to complement Nominal London's aesthetic, offering a backdrop that seamlessly merged urban grit with metropolitan sophistication. Set against the backdrop of Central London's iconic monuments, we took a tour around The Strand & Convent Garden sharing our art, our collection & creativity with those who connected with us. With our speakers, flares and fashion in tow, we went for it. Though a little risky, the feedback we received was been positive & the crowd of people vibing with us along the public presentation gave it an almost carnival at LFW-esque feeling. We were honoured by the feedback to our designs as we try to push the boundaries of traditional fashion presentation.
Our Spring collection officially drops in April 2024.
